Clinics start on January 6th and go thru March 3rd and include Fielding/Hitting along with additional sessions for Catchers and Pitchers. Due to scheduling conflicts, the Fielding/Hitting clinics will be held on Sundays from 3:30pm-5:30pm for all ages at both the Middle School and High School. Catcher and Pitcher clinics will be held at the Middle School starting on January 13th with beginner level players from 6:00pm-7:00pm and advanced level players from 7:00pm-8:00pm.
Fielding/Hitting Clinics
The clinics are great for girls that have never played softball, no matter their age, and for those who currently play. Previous softball experience is not needed and we encourage beginners to join whether they are 6 years old or 14 years old.
During clinics, players will learn and develop fastpitch hitting, fielding, and base running skills! This is a great opportunity for girls that want to get additional training to improve their softball skills.
Hitting will take place at the High School and fielding at the Middle School with the groups alternating locations each week, meaning they will only do hitting or fielding and not both during each session. There are several weeks where only one location is available and each group will have a one hour session.
Sessions will be broken out by the following age groups:
- 8U and 10U
- 12U, 14U and 16U
To determine the age group that your daughter should register for (this will also be the same age group for the 2019 Summer Season) user her age on December 31st, 2018 and find it below:
8U - 6, 7 or 8 years old as of December 31st, 2018
- 6 year old players must be in 1st grade
10U - 9 or 10 years old as of December 31st, 2018
12U - 11 or 12 years old as of December 31st, 2018
14U - 13 or 14 years old as of December 31st, 2018
16U - 15 or 16 years old as of December 31st, 2018
Equipment needed for clinics:
Fielding glove
Fielder's face mask
Batting helmet with face mask
Players can bring their own bat or use one from the association
Catcher/Pitcher Clinics
Catchers and pitchers are often the most sought after positions which is why NPGFA offers clinics specifically for them. All players are welcome to attend whether they are beginners or have previously played the positions.
There are two sessions for each clinic, Beginner and Advanced, both held at the Middle School on Sundays from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Beginner level is from 6:00pm-7:00pm and Advanced from 7:00pm-8:00pm.
Additional information about level placement will be sent out before the clinics start. During the registration process, please indicate whether your child is interested in attending the Catcher or Pitcher clinics. If you select "not interested" when registering but your daughter later decides she wants to try either clinic, they are welcome to join at any time.
Pitchers are required to have someone stay to be their catcher during the session.
8U players are encouraged to attend the catching and pitching sessions. Even though 8U games use a pitching machine, we would like to develop pitchers so they are ready for 10U.
